The hemophilia court case, 11 years on

“When it’s all too late”, a documentary describing the events surrounding the contaminated blood scandal and the case of the Hemophiliacs was screened last summer. The film is directed by Naghme Afiat, a young visually disabled female director and has won recognition in the recent Iranian Documentary Film Festival.

The Iranian ministry of health has named the Coagulation Labs at the Iranian Comprehensive Hemophilia Care Center as a National reference Laboratory in a new project set out to reassess Iranian hemophilia patients.

Since 1989, patient groups and treatment centres have been coming together on April 17 to celebrate World Hemophilia Day. Over the last 20 years, World Hemophilia Day has become a unique opportunity for all our partners to work together to increase awareness about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders

The vision of the WFH Psychosocial Committee is to improve quality of care for people with bleeding disorders and to increase their quality of life by making psychosocial care an integral part of a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare.

This November the World Federation of Hemophilia took the much anticipated step to bring together National Member organizations from the Middle East and North Africa to ponder on an issue that has the potential to change hemophilia care significantly in the region.

Despite the fact that last year over 400 hemophilia patients were treated with peg-interferon as part of a widespread cirrhosis prevention campaign, the waiting lines are getting longer and longer.

International Hemophilia Seminar to be held in Isfahan

The second regional seminar backed by the World Federation of Hemophilia, will be held in Isfahan, Iran on 19th and 20th of April 2009. Prominent Specialists active in the field of hemophilia are scheduled to appear at this two-day event from Iran, United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, France and Germany.
